He met death on May 1, 2011 exactly sixty-six years after Adolf Hitler took his life. It seems May 1 is a good day for humanity’s tormentors to depart.
Osama Bin Laden and Adolf Hitler were two of a kind. Their followers took oath of allegiance to them and both were absolute dictators.
Their vision of supremacy through violence was the vision of a psychotic removed from reality.
Bin Laden imagined that the autocratic regimes of the Arab world would fall through violence so that an Islamic regime would succeed them. Participation in processes of a Political nature was tantamount to the denial of the Muslim principles, as he perceived them. Bin Laden believed that the establishment of a caliphate, of a theocratic regime, was what would bring happiness to the Arab world. How hopelessly out of touch with reality he was! Nobody in the Arab world wants to overthrow the autocrats to install an anachronistic 7th century theocracy. Instead the Arab uprising came about in a fashion directly opposite to Bin Laden’s convictions, peacefully, with secular means and the participation of women!!
The crowds are voicing their longing for freedom, for democracy. Osama must have been very upset with that. The Facebook revolutionaries of the Arab world have a model of life which is far removed from his. A model represented by America, “the land of the free”, an open society with a firm belief … “that all men are created equal … endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights that these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed”. To Bin Laden this was Blasphemy.
America is all about L I F E. America is the country where people are guaranteed equal rights and the pursuit of H A P P I N E S S in an environment of freedom, of respect for human rights. America is all about making dreams come true. America loves LIFE and it constantly Twits about the big and the little things of every day life. LIFE in America is orderly freedom, not a theocratic set of restrictions. This is what Bin Laden hated about America. He loved death, he got it and America lives on because it loves life, as defined by its founding fathers.
